The Church calls the journey of accompanying, preparing, and welcoming new adult members into its community the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.
It is a process whereby adults and young people, who feel drawn to the Catholic faith, can journey into a deeper knowledge and love of God revealed in Christ Jesus, and a growth in the Catholic way of life: a way of prayer and worship, listening to the word of God, discerning the movement of the Holy Spirit, belonging to the apostolic tradition, and loving service.
The RCIA process respects the freedom of every person as well as their unique story, gifts, and needs. Some people begin only with an inkling that this is where God might be leading them. Others come to be enquirers after a lengthy period of discernment and experience of the Christian life. And then there's everything else. Regardless of where you see yourself, you will be accompanied and supported as you respond, generously and courageously, to the work that God has begun in you.
