GOLDFIELDS CATHOLIC COMMUNITY
Community Events
Jesus said to his disciples, "You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. People do not light a lamp and put it under the bushel basket; rather, they put it on the lamp-stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven."
(Matt 5:13-16)
Annual Community Days
Each of our Mass Centres (Kalgoorlie, Boulder, Coolgardie, Kambalda, and Norseman) celebrates an Annual Community Day, welcoming people from the local community and other centres for the celebration of the Eucharist and a festive lunch and barbeque. They offer the whole community an opportunity to give thanks to God for the rich and varied history of each of our churches, and for the many people who continue to build up the Body of Christ in these parts of the world.

The 2026 list of Annual Community Days will be published soon.

St Barbara's Festival:
Miners' Memorial and Parade
St. Barbara's Day in Kalgoorlie is a significant annual festival celebrated around December 4th, honoring the patron saint of miners and acknowledging those lost in the mining industry, and also featuring a large parade showcasing mining equipment and community groups. The festival includes a Miners Memorial Service for remembrance and reflection, followed by a vibrant St. Barbara's Parade, which features impressive mining equipment and floats celebrating the community.

Blessing of Roads
The Shire of Coolgardie annually hosts a "Blessing of the Roads" ceremony in Coolgardie and Kambalda, aiming to promote road safety and prevent road trauma. This event brings the community together to reflect on the importance of safe driving practices and to honor those affected by road accidents, often held around the Easter holiday period.
Annual Seniors' Christmas Luncheon
Each year, the parish community hosts a Seniors' Christmas Luncheon, involving a three-course meal with entertainment, for which funds are raised year-round with various raffles and donations.

Simbang Gabi
Simbang Gabi is a cherished, devotional nine-day series of pre-dawn or anticipated evening Masses celebrated by Filipino Catholics in the Philippines and around the world, leading up to Christmas Eve. It reflects a deep faith and brings communities together in anticipation of Christ's birth. The conclusion of the Novena is celebrated locally by a gathering in the Parish Centre, with loads of fun, fellowship, and food.

Santo Nino Celebrations
The solemn celebration of the Feast of Sto Nino includes a motorcade procession with vehicles carrying the statues around Kalgoorlie-Boulder, in addition to the Eucharist and celebratory lunch.
